In polyurethane industry, N- methylmorpholine is used as catalyst for polyester polyurethane soft foam.
High-quality N- methylmorpholine is mainly used as solvent (excellent solvent for dye, casein, wax and shellac, etc.), extractant, stabilizer of chlorohydrocarbon, analytical reagent, catalyst and corrosion inhibitor. N- methylmorpholine is also used in the synthesis of rubber accelerator and other fine chemicals. N- methylmorpholine is also used as polyurethane catalyst and catalyst for the synthesis of aminobenzpenicillin and hydroxybenzylpenicillin.
N- methylmorpholine can be synthesized by oxidation of N- methylmorpholine with hydrogen peroxide. It is the spinning solvent of Lyocell (commonly known as Tencel) and Newcell artificial fiber filaments, which are known as "green fiber" at present, and can also be used as solvent to produce vegetable casings.
